Meet the person behind it
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I run TinyHome3DPlanner — the planner, the guides, the mood boards, and the occasional late-night answer to a reader's question about loft headroom.

I did not start out as an architect or a builder. I started out as someone who wanted a small, warm, affordable home and kept running into the same wall: it is hard to picture a tiny space until you are standing inside it — and by then, it is too late to change your mind.
So I built the tool I wished I had. A planner you can sit with on a Sunday morning, coffee in hand, dragging walls around until the layout finally feels like you. No software to install, no design degree required, and no one trying to sell you a $40,000 shell before you even know what you want.
Everything on this site — the 3D planner, the cost ranges, the guides, the mood boards — comes from the same simple belief: people deserve to try their home before they build it.
What I do here
A few of the things you will find me writing, building, and fussing over.
Practical planning
Helping you turn a vague dream into a floor plan with real dimensions, real doorways, and real furniture that fits.
Honest small living
Writing about downsizing, off-grid life, and the trade-offs nobody mentions — without the glossy influencer filter.
Plain-language guides
Translating zoning, trailers, lofts, and insulation into words a first-timer can actually use.
“If you take one thing from this site, let it be this: your small home does not have to look like anyone else's. Sketch it, spin it around in 3D, change your mind a dozen times — that is the whole point. I will keep the tools free and the advice honest.”
